Translations

Founded in 2002 as a translation service for German, English, and French, Petite Planète has focused exclusively on translating German texts into English since 2007. Our largest client in our history, however, was Heise, Germany’s largest IT publisher. We began translating their online publications in 2005. In 2007, we then exclusively assisted them in rolling out the website The H, with an editorial staff based in London. The project was closed in 2013.

Renewable Energy - The FactsFrom 2009-2011, Petite Planète exclusively translated the prestigious monthly magazine “neue energie” for the German wind energy association BWE. From 2008-2010, we also handled all of the translations for PV Magazine, the English sister publication ofphotovoltaik. This cooperation ended when our director, Craig Morris, followed the former editor of photovoltaik to found Renewables International as the English website of Erneuerbare Energien. Prior to these projects, Petite Planète also translated forPhoton and Sonne, Wind & Wärme.

In 2010, Petite Planète translated the German book Das Solarbuch into English for UK-based publisher Earthscan; the book was published as “Renewable energy: the facts.”. The book has a unique format: a single page devoted to a single topic on the left, and a chart illustrating the same issue on the right-hand page. The authors are Walter Witzel, a former parliamentarian in the German Bundestag, and German energy analyst Dieter Seifried.
